Club Partners with Interstate Batteries & Bridging the Gap for Two-Day Electronics Recycling Event Set for August 23-24


KANSAS CITY, MO (August 19, 2013) — The Kansas City Royals, Interstate Batteries, Players for the Planet and Bridging the Gap are joining forces for an e-waste recycling drive on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24.  The two-day event will take place in Overland Park, Kan., on Friday and at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.  Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie and infielders Mike Moustakas and Chris Getz are scheduled to appear throughout the event (exact time & location to be announced).

The Players for the Planet E-Waste recycling event will provide a simple and convenient way for Royals fans and local residents to recycle old electronics and used batteries in exchange for ticket vouchers to a Royals game.  For a complete list of recyclable items, please visit  In compliance with R2 certification, all hard drives will be destroyed. 

“I’m thrilled Players for the Planet is coming to Kansas City,” said Guthrie. “Founders Chris Dickerson and Jack Cassel have done a lot of good over the years promoting environmental responsibility and I’m glad my teammates and I will be able to join Royals fans in the movement.”

Fans may drop off e-waste and used batteries for recycling at one of these convenient locations:

*NOTE: Those dropping off materials should enter through parking gate 3 or 4*


To offset recycling costs, a donation of $10 per CRT monitor, TV or car is suggested.  The first 200 cars at each event will receive two View Level tickets to an upcoming 2013 regular season Royals game, while supplies last.

Interstate Batteries is the presenting sponsor of the event with both Bridging the Gap, 610 Sports Radio and Vintage Tech Recyclers providing additional support.  Throughout the year, fans can bring in old batteries to Interstate Batteries locations in Kansas City or Omaha to receive ticket vouchers to Royals games.
