Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is offering recycling for non-working or no longer needed Christmas lights at its Recycled Building Materials (RBM) facility located at 500 South 32nd Street, Wausau, on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm during the holiday season.

Working with Vintage Tech Recycling, Habitat for Humanity of Wausau will give community residents the opportunity to recycle their Christmas lights by dropping them off at the RBM and other community locations, instead of adding the lights to the landfill.

“Don’t throw those old strings of lights away, donate them to our Recycled Building Materials facility,” said Chuck Strek, chairman of HFH of Wausau’s e-cycling program. “There is no charge for recycling the holiday lights.”

“It’s an easy way to give back this holiday season,” stated Sara Kierzek, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin, the statewide support organization for Habitat affiliates throughout the state. “Plus, you may be able to take the donation as a tax deduction. And, you’ll be helping us keep materials out of our landfills.”

Holiday lights will be collected on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm at the RBM throughout the holiday season. You may also take your lights to any Pick-n-Save store location, River Valley Bank location and all local area People State Bank branches, including the branch in Marathon City.

Special thanks to Vintage Tech Recycling for helping with the transportation and recycling of these lights.
