Vintage Tech Recyclers has opened a new processing facility in Canton, Mich. The company unveiled the 26,000-square-foot processing space at an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony April 24, attended by representatives from Canton Township and the Michigan Recycling Coalition, as well as Wayne County environmental officials.

Vintage Tech said it expects to process up to 6 million pounds of electronics from local residents and businesses in the facility’s first year. Some materials, like plastic computer casings, will be baled and sent to another Vintage Tech facility for shredding.

The Romeoville, Ill.-headquartered electronics recycling company operates a handful of facilities throughout the U.S. and has a partnership with Finnish metal recycler Kuusakoski. The Canton facility, which recently achieved e-Stewards Certification, is the company’s first in Michigan.
