Vintage Tech Recyclers has chosen a new location for its corporate headquarters: Plainfield, Ill.

The electronics recycler completed the purchase of the former Chicago Sun-Times printing facility in the western Chicago suburb last week. The 160,000-square-foot facility boasts 60-foot ceilings, ideal for operating large shredders and crushers, said Todd Gibson, Vintage Tech’s vice president of sales and marketing.

“[There] couldn’t have been more perfect of a place than this facility that we found,” Gibson said.

The company is currently headquartered in Romeoville, Ill. The new location will allow Vintage Tech, with its partner Kuusakoski, to centralize its technology and streamline operations while cutting down transportation costs, Gibson said.

Officials in Plainfield, Ill., approved a tax break for Vintage Tech to make the city an attractive location for the facility. The company expects to employ more than 200 full-time employees and process more than 150 million pounds of electronics annually.

Vintage Tech anticipates having the facility fully operational by October, Gibson said.
