Vintage Tech Offers Free Electronics Recycling in Chicago

On Saturday, March 31, Vintage Tech will be accepting recyclable electronics in Chicago. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 14th Ward Office, 2650 W. 51st Street in Chicago.

 

The event will be open to the public, including schools, businesses, and residents, and the recycling service will be completely free of charge.

 

Commonly accepted items for recycling are laptops, flat screens, printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, DVD players,  stereos, VCR’S, video game consoles, peripherals like mice and keyboards, PDA’s, cell phones, MP3 players, phones, UPS batteries, copiers, typewriters, etc.

 

Electronic waste is the fastest growing portion of solid waste in the United States, and much of it contains lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and other materials that pose environmental and health risks when not recycled properly.

 

By using a certified electronics recycler like Vintage Tech, members of the community can make sure that they are disposing of their electronics responsibly.
