Tips for an Environmentally Friendly Summer

Why not make this summer the most environmentally friendly summer yet? Darien News has reported on some of the great tips from Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for a green summer that’s good for the earth.

Here are some of those tips in brief:

  • Don’t set your party balloons free: they create pollution and can end up endangering animals.
  • Serve food that was locally grown at your next party or for everyday cooking. Also, serve drinks out of pitchers and reusable cups instead of individual containers to cut back on waste.
  • Instead of creating a centerpiece that you’ll throw away, use a potted plant for pizzazz.
  • Use reusable table linen, such as a table cloth, for your parties to reduce unneeded waste.
