Mendota Reporter Mendota to Host Free Electronics Collection

A free electronic recycling event will take place in Mendota on Saturday, July 30 in the parking lot of the Mendota Civic Center between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. This event is sponsored by the LaSalle County Department of Environmental Services, City of Mendota and Vintage Tech Recyclers and is open to LaSalle County residents, businesses, schools, churches and civic organizations.


Items that will be accepted at this event include monitors, laptops, televisions (all sizes and types including wooden and rear projection), printers, computers, FAX/scanners, DVD/stereos/VCRs, video game consoles, mice/keyboards, PDA/cell phones, all computer parts, MP3/IPods, phones, speakers, holiday lights, video game controllers, VHS tapes, floppy disks/software/CDs, servers and networking equipment, and laptop batteries.


Items that will NOT be accepted are typewriters, terminals, toaster ovens, hair dryers, curling irons, cash registers, UPS batteries, copiers, electronic tools, air conditioners, refrigerators, dishwashers and other white goods.


LaSalle County will also offer free electronic recycling this summer in LaSalle, Streator and Lake Holiday.


The Lake Holiday collection will also be held on July 30 in the parking lot of the Lake Holiday maintenance facility between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.


The LaSalle collection event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13 in the parking lot of Carus Chemical between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Streator Collection details are not yet finalized.
