Habitat for Humanity ReStores: Northern Fox Valley in Elgin

Vintage Tech has been partnering up with Habitat for Humanity to host electronics collection sites at many of their ReStore locations in several states. For the month of January, we’ve decided to feature some of these ReStore locations from different areas. This week, we’ll take a look at the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley ReStore location in Elgin, IL.

Deanna Davies, the Director of Northern Fox Valley ReStore, told us, “I believe in the mission of the ReStore,” which is to collect proceeds that go toward local communities and towards building and rehabilitating homes for qualifying families in their area. “Since it opened in 2006 its gone from 0-60 in moments,” Davies explained. In just the last year, 5 homes were funded with 20 funded overall by ReStore proceeds. In total, over 3,000 tons of materials have been diverted from landfills because of the ReStore.

Now, the ReStore of Northern Fox Valley in Elgin has decided to partner with Vintage Tech to collect electronics like computers, dvd players, printers, or laptops. Check out their list of accepted items to see if some of your unwanted electronics can be accepted. Located on 800 North State Street in Elgin, IL, they are open Wednesday through Friday 9am-6pm, and Saturdays 9am-4pm. Recyclable electronics can be dropped off for free any day during these times. If you have any questions, call their number at (847) 742-9905.
