The Habitat for Humanity ReStores in Sheboygan and Plymouth are now accepting electronic items for recycling.

This new service, provided by the ReStores, will provide funds to Lakeside Habitat for Humanity to build homes locally with partner families.

Items accepted include:

» All televisions and computer monitors

» Desktop, laptop, Netbooks, tablet and tower computers

» Printers, scanners, fax machines and photocopiers

» Computer accessories, such as keyboards, mice, external hard drives, speakers, modems, back-up power supplies, cables and cords

» Cell phones, telephones and answering machines

» Personal data assistants (PDAs)

» Stereo and radio equipment

» Tape, CD and mp3 players

» Other items, such as projectors, microwaves and digital cameras

Items for recycling can be dropped off Thursdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the newly-located Sheboygan ReStore at 1911 N. Eighth St., and the Plymouth ReStore located at 3003 Eastern Ave.

Items are recycled for free, although a $10 donation is suggested, particularly for larger equipment.

Recycling of the electronic devices will be handled by Vintage Tech Recyclers, a certified R-2 recycler and data destruction company that meet or exceed National Department of Defense and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.
