Free Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you were to take a look around your home or business, would you see any old electronics you want to get rid of?

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful are holding a free electronics recycling event on Saturday. You can recycle your old computers, gaming equipment, televisions, printers, basically anything with a cord.

The organizations are partnering with Vintage Tech Recyclers and LG Electronics USA to make sure the electronics are properly handled, recycled, and all hard drives are wipes. It’s not only an opportunity to get rid of your old junk, but to also help keep the community clean.

“We can assure to the customers that we service, in addition to the residents we are serving, that all the data is protected and we’re not only protecting the data, but we’re also protecting the environment all the way through the process,” Seth Smith with Vintage Tech Recyclers said.

“Recycling is important because it keeps these items out of our landfills that when people throw them away then they end up in the landfills so we don’t that them there. We want to recycle and reuse them,” Pam Carswell with Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful said.

You can’t drop off anything with hazardous materials.

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore located at 690 Holt Avenue.
