@flintjournal Habitat for Humanity Saginaw Partners with Vintage Tech for Free Electronics Recycling Program:

SAGINAW – Habitat for Humanity of Saginaw, Mich. and Vintage Tech have established a consumer electronics recycling program at the affiliate’s ReStore in Hastings.

Vintage Tech, an approved electronics recycler and member of the Michigan Recycling Coalition, provides a collection trailer and processes recycled electronics in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Computer hard drives will be wiped clean.

Consumers may take electronic products to the Habitat for Humanity of Saginaw ReStore during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge to consumers for this service.

This ReStore is open to the public for purchasing donated goods at greatly discounted prices. Many of these goods can be used to build and furnish homes. In addition, all of the proceeds from the ReStore go towards building homes in the Saginaw community for deserving families in need. The Saginaw ReStore is always looking for material donations and volunteers to join in its mission to help those in need.

The ReStore also promotes recycling so that no materials go to unnecessary waste. This includes recycling electronics, which, when sent to landfills, can leak harmful chemicals into the environment. Instead, many of the materials in electronics can be reused or repurposed. The partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Saginaw and Vintage Tech works toward that goal.
