Electronics Recycling


Will county Land Use has partnered with Vintage Tech Recyclers in Romeoville to accept its electronic recyclables for several years.


The Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, passed by the Illinois General Assembly in 2008, some electronic materials will no longer be accepted at landfills as of January 1, 2012.


The program will be the first free household pickup service offered in Illinois. Residents will be able to schedule a pickup of unwanted electronics by contacting Vintage Tech Recyclers.


Items accepted include: computer, laptops, CRT & LCD, monitors, printers, televisions, all types of telephone, answering machines, computer mouse devices, keyboards, computer cables, string lights, microwaves, fax machines, scanners, MP3s, PDA’s, video game, consoles, video cassette players/recorder, CD/VCR/DVD players, stereo equipment and more. There is a max of 10 items per pick-up with a ground level front-door access, but future service dates can be arranged.


Unaccepted items: light bulbs, household hazardous materials, home appliances such as refrigerators, freezers coffee maker, hair dryers, etc. No packing materials accepted; foam, cardboard, plastic bags, etc.

Residents can also bring residentially generated electronic items to the locations listed below. Clean off any personal information on hard drives (reformatting the hard drive or rewriting the disc is recommended). No Business electronics can be taken.
