Vintage Tech Offers Free Electronics Recycling at Home and Garden Expo

This Saturday, the Hampshire Home and Garden Expo will be hosting an electronics recycling event with Vintage Tech. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on  March 17 at Hampshire High School, located on 1600 Big Timber Rd in Hampshire, Ill.

The event will be open to the public, including schools, businesses, and residents, and the recycling service will be completely free of charge.

Commonly accepted items for recycling are laptops, TV’s, printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, DVD players,  stereos, VCR’S, video game consoles, peripherals like mice and keyboards, PDA’s, cell phones, MP3 players, phones, UPS batteries, copiers, typewriters, etc.

Electronic waste is the fastest growing portion of solid waste in the United States, and much of it contains lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and other materials that pose environmental and health risks when not recycled properly.

By using a certified electronics recycler like Vintage Tech, members of the community can make sure that they are disposing of their electronics both responsibly and in accordance with the new 2012 law banning electronics from landfills in Illinois.

The Home and Garden Expo is a free event open to the public that will also be featuring giveaways, drawings, live entertainment, purchase lunch, and a live radio broadcast.
