Ask the Times: Electronics Recycling


Q. Are there anymore electronics collections planned for this year by La Salle County?


A. The fifth and final collection for this year is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the parking lot of Streator Township High School, 202 W. Lincoln Ave., Streator.


Vintage Tech Recyclers of Romeoville, which conducted the earlier collections in Ottawa, Mendota, Peru and Lake Holiday, will run the collection.


Accepted items include monitors, laptops, televisions of all sizes and models, printers, computers, fax/scanners, DVD players, stereos, VCRs, video game consoles, mice, keyboards, PDAs, cell phones, all computer parts, MP3 players, iPods, phones, speakers, holiday lights, video game controllers, VHS tapes, floppy disks, software, CDs, servers, networking equipment and laptop batteries.


Nonaccepted items include typewriters, toaster ovens, hair dryers, curling irons, cash registers, copiers, electronic tools, air conditioners, refrigerators, dish washers and other major appliances.
