A Look back at January: 2 million lbs of electronics, 25 jobs created

Vintage Tech is proud to announce that we have experienced record success after only the first month since the new Illinois landfill ban on electronics was enforced. On January 1 of this year, it became unlawful to dispose of electronics along with regular waste. Violating this landfill ban could lead to fines up to $7,000.

Among all of the banned items are computer monitors, printers, TV’s, keyboards, MP3 players, scanners, video game consoles, and video media players like VHS and DVD players.

Thanks to the dedication of responsible recyclers in our communities, we were able to recycle over 2 million pounds of electronics. This influx of electronics coming through our recycling centers has helped us to create 25 jobs in just one month, according to our president, Karrie Gibson.

A big “thank you” to everyone who is joining in on our mission to keep electronics out of landfills!
