Will County is reminding its residents that Illinois landfills won’t accept personal electronics such as TVs, computers and portable music players after Jan. 1.

County Executive Larry Walsh’s office said it has partnered with Romeoville-based Vintage Tech Recyclers to establish 13 drop-off sites and free front-door pick-up of electronic items to be recycled. Walsh’s staff said the pick-up program won’t cost taxpayers.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to safely and responsibly recycle their unwanted electronics,” Walsh said.

Among the other personal electronics included in the ban are printers, keyboards, video game systems and DVD players.
