The Village of Oak Park says you shouldn't just toss out that busted old strand of Christmas lights that barely works.

Rather, village hall is partnering with Romeoville-based Vintage Tech Recyclers to help residents properly dispose of their old decorations. Starting in December, the village is offering a drop-off box at the public works center, 201 South Blvd.

Items that can be left at the box include mini lights, C7 lights, C9 lights, rope and LED lights, and extension cords, according to a village email news alert. They'll be accepting items on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in December in January.

For more information, call public works at 708-358-5700 or email publicworks@oak-park.us.
